Head Coach Role
Are you passionate about rugby and ready to lead a dynamic and ambitious team? Bristol-based Cotham Park RFC is seeking an inspiring and driven head coach to guide our Men's 1st XV to new heights in Counties 3 Gloucestershire South and beyond.
This paid role is ideal for those with coaching experience seeking a new challenge, as well as former players, retiring players and aspiring coaches looking to develop their coaching skills and enjoy being a key part of a positive rugby environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and leading one training session per week, as well as overseeing match days with a tactical vision for performance, working with senior players and other volunteers to ensure all sessions are delivered to the desired standard as agreed with the club committee.
- Leading the review and performance analysis of both Cotham Park and opposition teams through the use of appropriate tools such as Veo.
- Leading recruitment of players from the community, creating a welcoming environment for new players of all abilities.
- Administrative work, reporting to the club committee as well as the RFU.
- Build working relationships with nearby community assets to help find new players and support the club as a whole.
The role will require the individual to be present at training sessions and fixtures, i.e.
- Tuesday evenings from 6.30pm until 8.30pm.
- Saturday afternoons approx. 1.30pm – 5.30pm depending on kick off time.
It is of course accepted that occasionally other work/personal commitments may prevail.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic head coach, responsible for recruiting players and developing a clear playing style to meet the expectations of a competitive rugby club at Level 9 of the game.
Criteria
- Qualifications: minimum England Rugby Union Coaching Award (or equivalent), or a willingness to obtain.
- Relevant experience in the community game.

- Good management and communication skills to be able to inspire and lead a diverse team of players with varying experience.
- A development-focused coaching style, with the ability to get the best out of a team of amateur players from one training session per week.
